Person, Process, Place Photo Essay

This photo essay captures one of the most important spaces in my flat: the vanity area. With 6 girls, who all have their own unique beauty routines, sharing one vanity area, there is a plethora of products laid out throughout the space. Although some of us have very simple routines, and others have more complex ones, overall, the range of products is probably average for a student flat in Provo.

Since most girls have their own routine, they know what it takes to “put your face on” in the mornings. However, there are some girls who do not know very much about the make-up world, and there are certainly many, many guys who do not truly know how much effort girls go through to get ready for the day. By seeing these photos, there could be several kinds of reactions. To someone who has a lengthy getting ready process, they will probably either smile at the photos, glad that others go through what they go through, or they may not think anything of them. For someone who does not do very much in the mornings, they may feel like the amount of products is incredibly excessive and may not be able to understand why anyone would want to have such a long routine. They may also not understand why each product is used on a daily basis. Finally, to guys, the whole thing may seem a bit boggling or insane.

Pictured in this photo essay is the entire range of products or objects necessary to make oneself presentable. Though opinions of what is necessary and what is not unmistakably vary from person to person, each picture captures at least one basic item that is universally used on a daily basis. Furthermore, all products and items shown are considered important for use by their respective users.

This is the second mirror (very helpful on Sundays) with the full-length mirror in the background.

The shelf by the main mirror keeps the essentials.

Now, for my own make-up (this thing is awesome--it rotates!).

Eyelid primer, eyeliner, concealer, lip stain, mascara, eyebrow pencil.
It's sort of a lot, I know. It's all very useful though; promise.

I hope that this photo essay has be enlightening, if not at least mildly entertaining.
