Did I ever feel involved with the community while looking for desert locations, having my car break down and getting the car towed. Tomorrow morning will finish the whole ordeal when some people from a wrecking yard will come and take my 1995 Oldsmobile away for good, to be stripped down and destroyed. While I am getting $300.00 for it, I am still losing my trusty car named Augustus. I got to interact with the community by figuring out the processes of getting my car off of the road in the middle of the desert. Fortunately for me, the car hadn't been impounded yet. It was still on the road when we called to check. They had, however, tagged it. That's what the writing on the window was. I also got to interact with my insurance community as I asked how much they would pay for a towing service. They would pay for all of it! Which is great because it means that, while I'm losing my trusty friend, the Oldsmobile, I'm also getting $300.00! Hooray! This story has also given me lots of things to talk about with people. Almost no one can believe our terrible luck. I'm usually sure to include the fact that we were stuck in the car for six hours, waiting for relief. We started our venture at 2 pm, got stranded around 6:30 pm, got someone to come and rescue us around 10:30 and got to their house around 11:00pm. We got to know the people who rescued us really well, and had them listen to the horrible sounds are car was making. At 1:00 am, we got to the rescuer's house, and the next morning at 10:00 am I finally arrived at home. I got all sorts of great opportunities to talk to people and interact with my community during this.
