Movies
can bring inspiration, motivation, cause a change in the world, but they can
also keep people from the reality that surrounds them. Movies I believe create an escape to those
who enjoy leaving their own reality for a brief moment in time. This can help relieve stress, and create an
alternate reality which can inspire those watching to make a difference in the
world by doing good to others who are apart of actual reality. However, one must remember that when watching
movies they must understand that what they see is not the reality they live
in. Many people watch too much TV which
results in the viewer’s judgment of reality becoming compromised.
Many
people watch a TV shows or movie so frequently that their mind starts to
convince them that reality is that which is portrayed on the TV screen. For example, the Twilight saga has confused
the minds of many women that the ideal boyfriend is a vegetarian vampire who
reads minds and says cheesy romantic phrases.
This character is adapted to fill all the attributes women wish men
had. Women wish men could understand how
they think, say romantic compliments which only make sense to them and control
their urges or desires. Now there may be
some men out there that fit this limited size shoe, but the fantasy of
Twilight’s perfect man is not easily found and it confuses the minds of women
to the point where they can never be satisfied with their boyfriend or husband
because they are being compared to a fictional character.
Viewers must understand and be
aware that what they see on the movie screen is fictional and they can’t
compare that to reality. They must not
let their minds become confused about what is fiction and what is real.
You used the wrong "you're" in your title, but... We'll let it slide.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of this is true, I believe. I don't find the appeal in a stalker, vampire boyfriend. Girls are weird, huh?
I'm not a Twilight fan, but I think you should be aware that this discussion goes both ways. Film has been portraying women unrealistically since the very beginning and sadly I don't see that trend ending anytime soon. I don't know what kind of women you've been talking to, but I optimistically believe that most people know the difference between fiction and reality. A fair question to ask would be, has the media's portrayal of women confused you? Because this is the accusation you're making against women and Twilight.
