I love my roommate. She just might be one of the funniest people I know. I keep a running quote book on my phone of things she says. That's where I got inspiration for this photo essay. She has a habit of getting home from school and putting on the most ridiculous outfits. One night when I commented on what she was wearing she said to me "Cassie, I''ve been fashionable all day, now I just need to be myself." So I decided for this photo essay I would get some of these delightful outfits documented. My community up here is essentially my roommates. They are my best friends and the people I interact with. There are many things that happen in the walls of 140, so I thought I would take a closer look at one of them, Allies fashion.
I wanted to focus on a person because when i thought of doing a place I could only think of the generic ideas like my room or somewhere on BYU campus. I couldn't really think of any processes that would be interesting. And when I think of community I think of people. By taking a various pictures of the clothing my roommate puts on at night, it helped me focus on a part of my "community" I easily could overlook. It's fun to examine something like this.
Engaging with my community by taking pictures of my roommate was a neat experience. It helped me realize to appreciate the little things in life. And everyone has their quirks. It's fun to think about how everyone has there little things that you would never know about them from just one look. Allie is awesome... and normal. So that's whats so funny about her fashion in the walls of our cozy little apartment. And she would probably kill me if she knew I was writing this. That's why I will tell her tomorrow after it has been posted.
Firstly let me congratulate you on having an interesting post, you caught my attention. Congratulations! Hooray! I relate to this, I think a lot of beauty in this world comes from people- from personality, from differences, from quirks. I've said this before, but it really is refreshing to see who someone really is, devoid of fashion and facades and faux and other f words. We can get involved in our community (ish) by being ourselves and showing people who we really are. thats all I got
ReplyDeleteI wish I had sweet style like Allie. My favorite part about all these pictures is that it really shows what she is like. It really shows her personality, and tells us just a little bit about her. It makes you smile, and makes you want to know her. It makes you smile, and gives you a little glimpse into her world. Oh and where can I get a pair of British Flag shorts like those? Solid.
