Mark Fletcher Blog 2

Its very interesting talking about how certain charity groups can use the social media to create a touching story that will draw the attention of the audience. They are made hoping to touch people in such a way that the desire to make a difference can grow within them and they will be motivated to "stand up" and change the world.

One particular organization I once worked for was called "Families helping Families" and they are an organization that gets together every year in the month of December and they build homes for those families who are in need.  They are simple homes that have two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and living room, but there are so many people that help out that the home is finished in a matter of days.  They use several media tools to help advertise their charity organization, one being through facebook.  Their page on facebook really shows the story behind each house built.  You can look at all the pictures and see the progress that occurs in just a few days.  They also like to post pictures of the families they help which helps represent the difference that this charity is making in the lives of these individuals.  It to show the happiness that radiates off of the faces of these people who many started off living in a simple shack and now they have an actual home.  Also they show many pictures of the volunteers having fun and working hard to stand up for this family and leave behind their homes, TVs, video games etc, just to help one family have a deceit house above their heads.  This representation also helps the views of the media feel encouraged to participate in such an activity.  It makes it seem fun and active rather then like a choir.

Its amazing the influence that the social media can have on individuals who watch is amazing, and I'm so glad that we have such an easy access to such media that can inspire us to stand up.
