Interesting Stories

This week, we're talking about finding and telling interesting and important stories in a digital media context. For this post, you should first locate a digital story (blog, Twitter feed, YouTube video, podcast, etc.) that you feel is interesting or important. Embed or link to it within the post so that your classmates can explore the story as well. Like so:

Once you've located and embedded a digital story, discuss in 300-500 words (I mean it!) what makes this an interesting or important story. Consider answering some or all of the following questions:

  • How did you find this story?
  • What is interesting or important about this story?
  • What makes this interesting as a digital story (as opposed to more traditional forms of storytelling)?
  • How is this story influenced by traditional forms of storytelling?
  • How does the medium of the story shape the meaning of the story? How does the story explore and utilize the medium to its advantage?
  • What does the story want its viewers/listeners/readers/receivers to do after finishing with it?
This post is due January 12th before your lab. The comment is due on Tuesday. Be prepared to share and discuss your findings in class.
