I like how she talks about how things can sometimes be dumbed down and how that is not good because why would we do that “as if people were less than God made them.” God made us in his image. This actually made me think of when Dr. Carson came to BYU, he talked about how our minds have the capacity to learn great things. Our minds were also made in the manner of God. After this idea of dumbing things down she talks about how we are presumptuous and also irreverent if we thing that God has made some people less brilliant then us. She talks about William Tyndale and how during his time the church thought that only some people could learn the scriptures, and they did not want the Bible in the common person’s hands. William believed that everyone could learn and understand the scriptures. This makes me think about how we often almost try to hide spiritually messages in our movies, or at least I have done it before, but why not be straight forward and clear about them? Do we think that people are not smart enough for what we have to say? I think of how so many movies have addressed death and many of the ones that I know reference eternal families. Even Iron Man when his cave bubby runs out with his machine gun to protect Tony Stark, he tell Tony that he is going to see his family. Can’t we do the same thing? Wouldn’t it be could to reference the creation, and even Jesus Christ in our movies. People, if they let themselves, can know truth when they hear it, why hold it back from them.
Chase farm was one of the farm videos that felt nice and was good to watch but I do feel like they could have told me more. In reality it is just a few minutes, but I wish it could have be long and showed more, it is a little dumbed down.
