As Mormon artist we face many challenges which can give us
opportunities that can either benefit us and bring us down. It all depends on what an artist wants to
express and how they want o express it.
One particular challenge we face as Mormon artist is the
constant change in the world's view of what is new, exciting entertaining and
worth seeing. Many times people want to
see something they have never seen and that's what attracts them to view the
art.
As a Mormon artist in the film area I already face certain
challenges and I know that there will be many more to come. I know that my morals will be tested, because
they are not the same morals that are accepted by the world.
However, I think that it is because I have morals that I
will have the unique opportunity to express them through my art, and because it
is not widely accepted that makes it unique and somewhat new; or at least
something that has not been seen in a while.
As a Mormon artist I hope to inspire and motivate others to
be better than they are, the same way art has influenced me to be a better
person.
I think that through art the world can be changed for the
better, but we need people who know how to make a difference in a manner that
will bring happiness to others.
I find many of my ideas for compelling stories, in the
experiences of others as well as myself.
Through listening to others life stories, I can understand
people in general, and become more imaginative to create a story that can apply
to everyone.
Good post! Hurrah. What I find interesting, even proving, is that like you said the world's view is always changing- what's entertaining, ratings, morals, etc. whereas God's is constant. As God is constant, our morals should be as well. Yaaa
ReplyDeleteI really like what you have to say. It is so true that we must be a constant in a changing world. It has always been interesting to me that no matter what time period of the world there are different sins and different view. I think of how 50 years or so ago TV would show husband and wife in two separate beds, and they would not dare deal with sexually things, which was awesome, but they had cigarette smoking was glamorized on TV all the time. Now all we every see are ant-tobacco commercials which is the improvement, but also now we have had nasty desecration of the holy process of intimacy. Times change, but we cannot.
